Born in 1992 in Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia, Garth developed his performance skills through his early life with his school buddies and began performing at local pubs, clubs, youth centres and charity concerts at the age of 15. The pre-adult years were spent dragging his parents to the pub only to have them stay sober so they could drive him home. It was his great passion to be playing in a rock band with like-minded peers. Playing in pubs and clubs regularly, he developed a substantial repertoire of pub rock hits and crowd pleasers that were beyond his years.
In 2011, after finishing school, he moved to Newcastle to follow his passion for music. Whilst studying at the Newcastle Conservatorium, he developed a new passion for blues and soul music. He enjoyed listening to these genres in the past, but now he was in the Newcastle scene, surrounded by musicians who help him enhance his skills. He formed “Garth and The aPrentices”, a blues, funk and soul group in which he would spend the rest of his time in Newcastle, writing, recording and performing.
In 2016 after finishing his studies, Garth moved to Goulburn, the blues capital of Australia, to work for the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium and quickly settled into the music scene there. A part of many musical outfits in Goulburn, he was introduced to many of the local talents and quickly became an integral part of the Conservatorium community.
